Dear Beloved Church Family,

There are a few cousins I would rather never see or hear from again! That sounds a bit mean, so read on!

Do you ever notice how pain and sleeplessness, especially during the dark hours, seem to feed our tendency to worry? And when worry is not dealt with, all the cousins seem to arrive at the same time: Anxiety, Uncertainty, Fear, and Doubt. Not a fun group to have hovering over your bed or chair! We need to handle them with the powerful Word of God. The Bible has much to say about these tools of the Devil and how we are to best resist them in the faith.

Our Lord Jesus addressed this very topic in His Sermon on the Mount. Jesus told us that entertaining Worry and her cousins is a total waste of precious time and energy. First off, because – Matthew 6:27, Worry accomplishes absolutely nothing of real value. Your Heavenly Father knows what you are going through and He will take proper care of you. So – for the believer in Christ, priority one is the Kingdom Agenda. (Matthew 6:25-34)

So next time these cousins show up, and they will – give them some gas money and tell them to keep moving since your King is on the Throne of the Universe and there is nothing to worry about!

I need this reminder, especially in the dark!
