The Journey – Part 3

The Journey

Dear Beloved Church Family.

Puritan Thomas Watson’s second chapter in his Romans 8:28 exposition carries the very helpful heading, “The Worst Things Work for the Good of the Godly”.  And of course Watson is referring to the godly by their position in Christ, not necessarily their consistent practice. We are still sinners!

As soon as he learned about my accidental fall, my oldest son Sam went into action! Sam is the senior pastor of the Goshen Christian Reformed Church and one of the two scheduled Bible Teachers at Keswick that week. He was looking over his message notes as he was scheduled to preach that morning at 9am when he was called to the scene of my fall. He switched his preaching time with co-pastor Robert Rodriguez, helped me into his van and drove me quickly to Community Hospital in the Toms River area. What a comfort for Sue and myself to have Sam taking charge of the present disaster! (I’ll write more on the hidden blessings of family!) The time with Sam – even though it was a crisis – was wonderful! This “worst thing” has resulted in so many positives! Yet that is how God often chooses to work! Why am I surprised? Are you? Have you experienced the worst things turning out for your good in your faith journey?

Something to think about!

More to come!

Pastor Dave Sutter
