The Journey – Part 17

The Journey

Dear Beloved Church Family,

King David makes a pretty bold statement in Psalm 17:5: “My steps have held to Your paths; my feet have not stumbled.” Sounds good – right? Follow God the best you are able and He will keep you from falling. You will experience spiritual protection and success. But what are we to think when our feet do stumble – for no apparent reason? When life seems anything but fair? When everything is going wrong with no relief in sight? Is God’s Word not true? Has God abandoned us? Are we really saved?

God’s Word is true and reliable. He will never abandon His sheep! But from our perspective, things may not appear to look good. Infact, when we so often walk by feeling and by sight rather than by faith – everything might look bad! That’s why we so often need that Ascension perspective. Jesus Christ, our Pioneer, went before us guaranteeing we also will finish strong!

It’s my choice – to live by trusting His Word, or living by leaning on my own understanding! Take another look at Colossians 3:1-4!

As the modern hymn writer put it – “He will hold me fast!” No matter how life may appear to us at the moment. And appearances are often so deceiving!
